Lamar Institute of Technology (LIT) dual enrollment student Aldo Rodriguez received an Associate of Arts in General Studies, an Associate of Science in Biological Science and an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Certificate at the Spring 2026 commencement ceremony.
As a Beaumont United senior, he was able to attain three college awards alongside his high school diploma.
“We are proud that students like Aldo are able to enter into the workforce immediately following graduation with high-quality careers through our program,” said Michael Hatton, Director of Dual Credit. “I am confident that what he learned here will be a foundation that carries him into a successful career.”
Rodriguez said that LIT has prepared him for the workforce and would recommend LIT to anyone who wants to follow in his footsteps.
“If you’re someone who wants to do as much as you can to count towards your bachelor's degree, dual credit is a great way to do it,” Rodriguez said. “As long as you think long term and plan it out, you can get pretty far.”
Since his monumental achievements, Rodriguez will begin in June at Acadian Ambulance Service as an EMT student in Beaumont with plans to continue in his higher education journey.
“My next step will be continuing my Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Lamar University as I have already been accepted into the Fall 2026 cohort. My long-term goal is to become a certified registered nurse anesthetist.”
Rodriguez saw his friends graduate from LIT and used that as inspiration to reach his full potential with his education.
“Last year, two of my close friends were able to walk the stage and graduate with Associates of Arts,” Rodriguez said. “That is what inspired me to look more into what I can do with LIT.”
Registration for the Summer and Fall 2026 semester is ongoing. For more information on LIT’s Dual Credit Department contact dualcredit@lit.edu or 409-951-5711.
