The Lamar Institute of Technology (LIT) Communications and Marketing Department earned three awards at the Press Club of Southeast Texas 35th Annual Excellence in the Media Awards and Newsmaker of the Year Gala on June 12, 2026.

Kaiden Richard, marketing coordinator, received first place in the Internal Publications/Printed Materials for “Impact 2030: Past, Present and Future.” She also was awarded second place in the Open Feature Photo category for “The Moment It All Paid Off.” Jeremiah Kelly, marketing coordinator, received second place in Public Relations Corporate/Institutional Video for the “2025 Campus Update Video.”

“It feels incredibly rewarding to be recognized by the Press Club of Southeast Texas,” said Kaiden Richard. “It meant so much to be recognized knowing how many incredibly talented people submitted their work.”

Although individual names appear on the awards, Richard emphasized the collaborative effort happening within the department.

“Though my name is the only one physically on the award, I consider it a win for our entire Marketing and Communications team,” Richard said. “Having such a supportive team that pushes each other creatively makes work like this possible and I am so proud to be a part of it.”

Kelly, who directed and produced the “2025 Campus Update Video,” said that being recognized at the Press Club Awards was not just a reflection on his personal work but also a reflection of the impact LIT has on the community.

“Being able to direct and produce the campus update video each year and then have it recognized through competition is incredibly rewarding,” Jeremiah Kelly said. “It reassures me that the work I am doing is making an impact. I’m always proud to represent LIT because I truly believe in what we do here and the opportunities we provide for our students and community.”

Kelly said the recognition reinforces why he enjoys the work and the opportunity to tell LIT's story through video.

“I take a lot of pride in what I do because it combines my creativity, passion and purpose,” Kelly said. “Projects like this video are a team effort and I’m grateful to work alongside talented people make coming to work enjoyable and who help make our projects successful.”
