Lamar Institute of Technology was established on September 1, 1995 as an educational center of Lamar University and a member of the Texas State University System. Four years later in 1999, the Texas Legislature changed the name of the institution to Lamar Institute of Technology.

Lamar Institute of Technology is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) to award associate degrees. Degree-granting institutions also may offer credentials such as certificates and diplomas at approved degree levels. We strive for excellence in instruction and service by upholding high academic and professional standards, providing a quality educational environment and continuously seeking improvement in all aspects of our work.

Customer Service Standards

We strive to deliver quality services in a timely fashion. Our employees are available to customers via phone, fax, U.S. mail, email or in person during regular office hours. Although handling of complex situations may take longer, we try to resolve these situations efficiently and promptly. Emergencies are always addressed immediately. When possible, responses to non-emergency inquiries, requests and complaints are addressed within a ten-day time frame.

Process for Receiving Information

Information is provided to the customer in a variety of ways. It may be received through direct inquiry to the appropriate department. Our employees are encouraged to know the functions of other areas and make every effort to connect the customer with the appropriate contact person.

Lamar Institute of Technology maintains a website containing information about the Institute's programs, activities, departments and personnel, including contact information such as email addresses and phone numbers for faculty and staff members.

The Lamar Institute of Technology Catalog and program-specific information is available to all students in the Office of Student Success, online and at orientation sessions. The catalog contains useful information for students about educational programs, services, procedures and policies.

Information about Institute policies and procedures is also available online in the Human Resources Policy and Procedure Manual.

Handling Complaints

Lamar Institute of Technology strives to address all complaints promptly. Informal complaints can be made at any office on campus and Institute personnel will work to efficiently handle the complaint.

Customers may appeal to the next level of supervision if dissatisfied with the resolution of their complaint or the service received.
