Lamar Institute of Technology Celebrates Largest Graduating Class At Spring 2026 Commencement

Lamar Institute of Technology (LIT) celebrated the Spring 2026 Commencement ceremonies on Tuesday, May 19, 2026. This marks the largest graduating class in LIT’s history.
Throughout the event, 911 awards, comprising of 372 associate degrees, 520 certificates and 19 core completers recognitions, were handed out to a total of 840 graduates, 466 traditional students and 374 dual credit students.
This commencement had a 22 percent increase in awards and a 23 percent increase in graduates compared to the Spring 2025 Commencement.
Among the awards conferred, Industrial and Engineering Technology accounted for the largest share with 216 awards. Followed by Manufacturing and Trades Technology with 202 awards, Business Technology with 162 awards, Healthcare and Sciences with 142 awards, General Education with 104 awards and Public Service and Safety with 85 awards.
The graduates ranged from age 17 to 59, with 23 percent of ages 25 and older. Of the graduates, females accounted for 47 percent of total graduates and males accounted for 53 percent of graduates. “The increase in graduates and our placement rate is a testament to the high-quality, workforce ready training we provide at LIT,” said Dr. Sid Valentine, LIT President. “I know they are fully prepared to succeed in any career path they choose.”
