The Lamar Institute of Technology (LIT) diagnostic medical sonography program received a donation of two Mindray DC-70 ultrasound machines from the Hope Women’s Resource Clinic. This new equipment will be the first of its kind at LIT, giving the students an opportunity to gain hands-on experience with a wider variety of machines.

“It is important that our students become comfortable working with different ultrasound systems because they will encounter a variety of manufacturers and equipment once they enter the profession,” said Lacey Stinebrickner, diagnostic medical/cardiac sonography program director. “We are incredibly grateful to the Hope Women’s Resource Center for their continued generosity.”

Over the course of the last year, the organization has donated a total of four machines. In September 2025, they donated a Philips ClearVue 850 ultrasound machine, followed by a Philips ClearVue 750 in January 2026. Donations of equipment help the lab offset the wear that daily usage puts on the machines.

“Although we already have several ultrasound machines in our lab, our equipment gets a tremendous amount of use and experiences significant wear and tear. Having additional equipment gives our students more opportunities for hands-on scanning and helps us provide them with experience using technology similar to what they will encounter in the clinical setting,” said Stinebrickner. “Donations like these are incredibly valuable to our program.”

The donation helps address the program’s equipment needs and strengthens the connection between LIT’s programs and the healthcare professionals serving the community.

“This partnership reflects our shared commitment to training future healthcare leaders and equipping them with the best tools and education possible,” said Jeanette Harvey, executive director of the Hope Women’s Resource Clinic. “We are grateful to benefit from those who have been trained at LIT and who bring their knowledge, skill and compassion to the care they provide at Hope Women’s Resource Clinic.”
