LIT Announces the Selection of the 2026-27 Golden Eagle Ambassadors

Lamar Institute of Technology (LIT) has announced the 2026-27 cohort of the Golden Eagle Ambassador Program. Four students have been selected to serve as LIT’s official student representatives: Brittni Jones, Kendra Silva, Jodie Horace and Latanga Hickman.

The Golden Eagle Ambassador program aims to welcome and guide new and prospective students, while also fostering a strong sense of community within the campus. Their responsibilities include hosting formal functions, sharing personal experiences at LIT and acting as role models on campus.

“I am proud of the students who participate in the Golden Eagle Ambassador Program. They give their time to support LIT and their fellow students while balancing their own classes and responsibilities,” said Sam Hutson, LIT Student Life Coordinator. “The program gives students a chance to find their voice, build confidence and become leaders. I am incredibly excited about our new batch of Golden Eagle Ambassadors and look forward to seeing how they grow, build connections and make an impact throughout the 2026-27 academic year.”

Ambassadors receive a scholarship of $1,000 per semester, totaling $2,000 annually. In addition to financial support, ambassadors receive exclusive Golden Eagle apparel and gain access to networking opportunities with industry leaders at various campus and community events.

Brittni Jones, from Port Arthur, Texas, is majoring in health sciences and working toward becoming a registered respiratory therapist. She has a certification in phlebotomy and currently works as a dialysis patient care technician. She is a member of Phi Theta Kappa and loves being in a career where she can make a difference in someone’s day. When she’s not working or studying, she is spending time with her family, chasing her goals and finding new shows to binge.

Kendra Silva, from Port Neches, Texas, is majoring in health sciences, with plans to apply for the radiology program. She is going into her second year as the Athletic Support Coordinator for the Lamar University men’s volleyball team. Outside of school, she enjoys going to church and hanging out with friends.

Jodie Horace, from Beaumont, Texas, is majoring in business and is currently the training director at Chick-Fil-A, where she focuses on creating a welcoming environment for new hires and building up the current team. Outside of school, she loves watching movies and going to the gym.

Latanga Hickman, from Beaumont, Texas, is majoring in biological science. She is passionate about helping others and achieving her goal of becoming a radiation therapist. She hopes to become a role model for other students through her leadership and communication. Outside of school she is known for her easygoing, creative spirit, love of reading and her ability to turn challenges into opportunities for growth.
