Thirty-eight students from Lamar Institute of Technology competed at the 2026 state SkillsUSA Conference held April 8-11 in Corpus Christi, bringing home a total of 20 medals.

The group won nine gold, eight silver and three bronze medals across multiple technical and workforce disciplines. SkillsUSA is a national organization that empowers students to become skilled professionals, career-ready leaders and responsible community members.

“I am truly passionate about this organization and the meaningful impact it has on our students,” Stacy Taylor, SkillsUSA advisor said. “It is incredibly rewarding to see students grow through these experiences, and I am grateful to be part of providing opportunities that allow them to compete, connect and develop valuable skills for their future careers.”

Gold medalists included Sohanur Rahman (customer service, extemporaneous speaking, criminal justice), Aunica Lynch (prepared speech), Noble Turner (electronic technology), Reece Broussard (job demonstration A), and Miracle Morris, Ashley Cruz and Shamayah Petry (crime scene investigation Team B).
