BEAUMONT – It’s easy to find inspiration to produce a series of videos about ‘Women in Technology’ when you’re surrounded by successful alumni women, according to Lamar Institute of Technology Department Chair Tiffany Williams-Parker.

“Seeing students participate in class and knowing they will be working in male-dominated industries inspired me to give them the recognition they deserve--especially with it being Women's History Month,” she said.

“Having worked in a male-dominated field myself, I feel these videos are an important informational tool,” Williams-Parker said. “Women being able to see other women learning and training through our Technology programs will encourage them to get an education and be a part of these fast-growing industries by creating opportunities for other women to follow suit.”

Williams-Parker said it was nice reconnecting with LIT alumni who have earned ‘degrees that work.’ She also enjoyed collaborating with everyone while celebrating the accomplishments of “women in our technology programs, both past and present.”

The videos are available on LIT’s YouTube channel for Welding, Computer Drafting, Process Operating, and HVAC.

Williams-Parker also envisions them being used as course introductions in the classroom and for new student orientation. Anyone interested in LIT’s Technology programs should visit lit.edu/go.
