BEAUMONT – Lamar Institute of Technology will dedicate the existing Petrochemical & Advanced Technology Center (PATC) to ExxonMobil in recognition of their longstanding support on Thursday, Dec. 2, at 10:30 a.m. The newly renamed “ExxonMobil Petrochemical & Advanced Technology Center” houses technology programs, including process operating and instrumentation.

The new name recognizes collaborations between LIT and ExxonMobil dating back to the 1990s, including the company’s contributions of over $1 million in financing, volunteers and equipment, scholarships and sponsorship donations since 2009.

“We owe a debt of gratitude to our valued community partner, ExxonMobil. Throughout the years, the company has tirelessly contributed to LIT’s historic growth through sponsorships, scholarships, job support, mentorship and job placement. We felt it was more than fitting to dedicate this building in ExxonMobil’s name,” LIT President Dr. Lonnie L. Howard said.

“We are incredibly grateful to our neighbors at LIT for this prestigious honor,” Rozena Dendy, ExxonMobil Beaumont Refinery Manager, said. “It’s our hope that next generation of students will take advantage of the career training and co-occupational opportunities made possible through LIT, and that many consider being a part of our Beaumont family.”

As part of the agenda, LIT and ExxonMobil will host a brief building dedication ceremony with formal remarks and sign unveiling, followed by building tours and light refreshments.
