BEAUMONT – Lamar Institute of Technology’s President Dr. Lonnie L. Howard will be a distinguished panelist at the Water for Texas 2021 Conference, September 27-29, in Austin. He will speak on “Eyes on the Horizon: Building the Next Generation of Industry Leaders.”

The conference, sponsored by the Texas Water Development Board, will focus on the water industry’s future staffing challenges in an aging workforce, and promoting employment.
The website said, “Panelists will discuss academic, trade and training avenues to meet this need. The Water for Texas 2021 conference will bring together industry experts, visionaries and innovators from around the state and country.” Topics will include:

  • Water science and technology
  • Drought and flood
  • Innovative solutions to water challenges
  • Texas water policy
  • Communications strategies
Moderator for the event is Kathleen Jackson, P.E., of the Texas Water Development Board, with the following panelists joining Dr. Howard: Julie Nahrgang of the Water Environment Association of Texas; and Lara Zent of the Texas Rural Water Association.
