Lamar Institute of Technology Announces Record Fall Enrollment

Lamar Institute of Technology (LIT) has reached a record enrollment of 8,062 unduplicated students this Fall, the largest in the college’s history and a 24 percent increase from Fall 2025. The number of students enrolled during this Fall also surpasses the college’s entire (Spring, Summer and Fall semesters) unduplicated headcount of 7,953 in 2025.

“I believe this continued growth is a reflection of the strong foundation LIT has built and our commitment to continually evolve to meet the needs of the workforce in Texas,” said Dr. Sid Valentine, president. “We are proud that this record number represents a multi-year trend, with enrollment increasing 68 percent over the past five years. Along the way, we have been investing in new programs, technology, partnerships and hands-on experiences with our students’ future in mind.”

With the support of the Texas legislature, LIT’s tuition has not increased in over seven years, despite inflation. This allows the college to keep high-quality education accessible and affordable to students.

“Education is a pathway to a better career and greater economic opportunity,” said Valentine. “The programs we offer at LIT provide higher access to higher earnings. Our programs prepare them for meaningful careers and deliver lasting value on their investment.”

LIT’s expansion into surrounding communities is further spreading the college’s reach. The new Hardin County Campus in Silsbee will provide additional opportunities for students in Hardin County and surrounding communities.

“LIT has had a longstanding presence in Hardin County through the Frank Robinson Center and our dual credit partners,” Valentine said. “With the larger site, we are excited to welcome more students to LIT and expand the access to higher education in this community.”
