Process Operating Technology

Train to be a process operator in a program ranked among the largest in the nation, at a facility endorsed by the North American Process Technology Alliance and approved by the Texas Skills Standard Board. Lamar Institute of Technology's computerized training lab sets the benchmark for training facilities in the Gulf Coast region.

What will I learn?

Program curriculum includes topics such as and introduction to Process Technology, equipment and instrumentation, safety, and quality control. The program provides hands-on training in the classroom and laboratory environments. 

What can I do with this Certificate

The 17 SCH program prepares individuals for potential employment in the refining, petrochemical, pharmaceutical, food/beverage, water/wastewater and pulp/paper industries.

Process Operating - Certificate

A graduate of the 1-semester (17 hours) instructional program is awarded the Level I Certificate in Process Operations.

Process operators generally work 12-hour rotating shifts, climb tall towers, work in any weather and must meet certain physical requirements.
