Crime Scene Technician

Associate of Applied Science (AAS)


This degree trains individuals to secure a crime scene and collect information and evidence essential to criminal convictions.

What Will I Learn?

This degree includes general education coursework as well as coursework that provides knowledge of the criminal justice system and investigative techniques.  It also includes training on the processing, documentation, and preservation of evidence.

What can I do with this Degree

This degree prepares the student for a career as a crime scene technician. It also enhances the knowledge and skills of individuals in the criminal justice field.

Degree Requirements

The student must complete the prescribed 60 SCH curriculum.  All courses must be completed with a grade of “C” or better.  Students must complete at least 25% of the program coursework at Lamar Institute of Technology.  Students must complete the College Success Skills Course (DORI 200) or be exempt.
