OCI Beaumont visited Lamar Institute of Technology (LIT) to donate and share safety-related advice and tips with LIT process operation students.

"Members of the OCI operation’s staff observed students demonstrating their knowledge of the Glycol and Water Distillation Unit," said Dustin Wilkins, OCI Operations Training Coordinator. "The operation’s staff offered safety-related advice and tips while giving input on the operation of their unit. The team took part in a Q&A interview and a variety of other industry-related topics."

The donation included hardhats, safety gloves and equipment for students. OCI also shared that they are offering a co-op for graduating students to help them get operating experience and, hopefully, a job following graduation.

"The recent partnership with LIT has played a vital part in our talent pipeline here at OCI Beaumont. The co-op program was brought back to OCI Beaumont in the fall of 2021, and the operations department has seen great dividends from the program," said Steven Arnold, OCI Operations Manager. "Our current staff is made up of approximately 10 percent of former co-ops from this period and several other former students who graduated from this or similar programs earlier in their careers. We look forward to continuing to support LIT in the future through this vital partnership as OCI continues to grow and the demand for this talent increases.”
