BEAUMONT – Lamar Institute of Technology will dedicate the Emerson Coldwater Lab Building and Emerson Central Control Center on Wednesday, November 3, at 3 p.m. in the Petrochemical and Advanced Technology Center (PATC).

The agenda begins with a welcome and introductions from 3-3:15 p.m., followed by a roundtable discussion from 3:15-4:15 p.m., led by representatives from LIT, Emerson, and Scallon Controls. A tour and dedication is scheduled from 4:15-5 p.m.

Both facilities offer more hands-on opportunities for Process Operating and Instrumentation Technology students, while providing local businesses/industry with a greater pool of workforce-ready employees for their growing demands.

In 2020, an upgrade to Lamar Institute of Technology’s Process Operating unit was completed, thanks to a generous donation of over $1.1 million in automation and technologies by Emerson and Scallon Controls. The donation helped modernize the 3-story Ethylene-Glycol Distillation separation unit by incorporating the DeltaV™ distributed control system (DCS), which will help industry employ knowledgeable, well-trained employees.

The Emerson Central Control Center is located in the PATC building, while the Coldwater Lab Building is between PATC and the Eagles’ Nest.
