Faculty Senate

The Faculty Senate of Lamar Institute of Technology serves as the official body responsible for ascertaining and relaying the advice and opinions of faculty, including providing information and recommendations to LIT administration on matters related to the general welfare of the institution.

Senate deliberations and recommendations may result from requests for advice by the administration or from matters brought forward by members of the Faculty Senate. The Faculty Senate represents the entire faculty of the College and may make recommendations to the appropriate institutional officials on issues it considers to be of concern to the welfare of the faculty.

The Faculty Senate is advisory only and may not be delegated final decision-making authority on any matter.

The Faculty Senate operates within the framework of shared governance, as defined in Texas law. Shared governance structures may not be used to obstruct, delay, or undermine necessary institutional reforms, nor serve as a mechanism for advancing ideological or political agendas.
