Students and advisors from LIT participated in the 2024 SkillsUSA state competition in Houston, TX April 18-20, 2024.

Diligent, hard work goes into preparing students to attend the state contest,” said Stacy Taylor, Skills USA Advisor. “For many students, late nights studying and perfecting the skills contribute to their success. They never cease to give 100 percent.”

The team brought home eight gold medals, seven silver medals, and four bronze medals.

“The most rewarding part of SkillsUSA is seeing the excitement on the students’ faces when they receive a medal, knowing what they have accomplished,” said Taylor. “The students learn skills that they can apply in the real world. One of the most important skills to learn is leadership. This is a substantial part of SkillsUSA, not to mention the networking that also takes place at these competitions.”

Eight students will advance to the SkillsUSA national competition in Atlanta, GA June 24-29, 2024.
