The program of study is designed to prepare students to enter the real estate industry in the fields of real
estate sales, appraisal, brokerage, and finance. It is planned for those entering the real estate industry,
as well as for those who wish to expand their professional knowledge. Real estate courses may be taken to
satisfy the educational requirements of the Texas Real Estate Commission for salespersons’ licenses and renewal.
Real estate courses may satisfy the educational requirements for brokers’ licenses.
Upon successful completion of 64 semester hours in the real estate degree program, a student is awarded an
Associate of Applied Science degree in Real Estate. After successful completion of 16 semester hours of real
estate courses, a person is awarded a Certificate of Completion in Real Estate, upon request. Students in the
certificate program are not eligible for Pell Grants.
