BEAUMONT –Lamar Institute of Technology has earned high grades from Collegefactual.com, with 14 top-ranked majors on the site’s 2022 Best Colleges Ranking. Schools were ranked comparatively: within the state of Texas, the Southwest and United States.
 
According to Collegefactual.com, top LIT programs in the U.S. are (#5) Instrumentation Technology Associate Degree Schools, (the program was #4), and (#6) Best Computer Drafting Associate Degree Schools. The Computer Systems Technology Program was ranked #1 in Texas. Emergency Medical Technician/Paramedic was ranked in the top 25 percent in the U.S.
 
In the Southwest, LIT claimed #4 for Best Dental Hygiene/Hygienist Associate Degree Schools and Dental Assistance. Collegefactual.com also lauded LIT as a top 15 percent school for overall value in Texas (#18 out of 134 schools). In Texas, the Dental Hygiene program placed #4, while Industrial Engineering was #6.

College Factual said, “The core of our data comes from The Institute of Education Sciences (IES), (a branch of the) Department of Education (DOE), the nation’s premier source for research, evaluation and statistics that help educators, policymakers and stakeholders improve outcomes for students. The data comes specifically from the Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS) from the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) within the IES.”

To be considered for Best Colleges Ranking, institutions “must be outcome-focused,” the site said. “Schools must prepare students for success.” Collegefactual.com reported that it was created to help students find the best quality colleges in the U.S. Indicators include a compilation of Accreditation, Employment, Demand, Education, Peer and Debt scores.
