Lamar Institute of Technology is an authorized PearsonVUE testing center located in Technical Arts Building (T1) in the ACT Testing Center. Probably known as VUE, NCS Pearson or Pearson Professional Testing, they are now PearsonVUE. Pearson, the international media company, continues to implement innovative testing solutions that enhance the performance reliability and security of licensing and certification programs throughout the world.

Partnering with Pearson, VUE gives LIT the capability to offer certification opportunities on campus.For several of LIT’s programs students may now test on campus and are not required to travel to other cities to take certification exams.

PearsonVUE delivers exams for Microsoft, Cisco, Sun Microsystems - SAI, CompTIA, IBM, The American College, NASD, IBM Lotus, LPI, Internet Security Systems, ITT Technical Institute, IBM Informix, C-STAR, and many other testing programs.

C-STAR is a new certification program designed to provide a certification credential for technicians who install and maintain low voltage voice, data, video, sound, building automation and alarm/security systems. Technicians meeting C-STAR qualifications are highly skilled, motivated and committed to safety and professionalism.

C-STAR begins testing at Pearson VUE Authorized Centers in the United States and Canada on August 7, 2006 with a beta exam testing event which runs through September 22, 2006. The full program will launch in early November, 2006. Registration is being done exclusively through the Pearson VUE Call Center.
