Lamar Institute of Technology is in a partnership with Certiport to
administer the MOS exams through
our ACT Testing Center. Certiport, Inc. is the leading provider of global, performance-based certification programs
and services designed to enable individual success and advancement through certification. Certiport is the exclusive
administrator of the Microsoft® Office Specialist(MOS) program worldwide, responsible for the development, marketing, and administration of
certification tests for the Microsoft Office suite. Many area students, faculty and community individuals have taken
the exams and received certifications to help them gain employment, promote within a company, or simply gain new
skills. The Microsoft® Office Specialist program is a globally recognized standard for demonstrating desktop skills
with the Microsoft Office suite and LIT students enrolled in several of the computer or office technology programs
are encouraged to seek certification in one or more of the business applications.
By encouraging individuals to develop advanced skills with Microsoft's leading business desktop
software, the Office Specialist program helps fill the demand for qualified, knowledgeable workers in the modern
workplace. At the same time, Office Specialist helps satisfy an organization's need for a qualitative assessment of
employee skills.
Thousands of Office Specialist-certified individuals have demonstrated increased productivity
and proven ability to utilize the advanced functionality of the following Microsoft applications:

Certification candidates must pass one or more certification exams to earn Office
Specialist certification. The exams provide a valid and reliable measure of
technical proficiency and expertise by evaluating overall comprehension of
Microsoft applications. They test the ability to use the advanced features of
the products and to integrate the products with other software applications. The
exams are developed and validated by industry experts and are administered at
Certiport Centers.
LIT offers 2007/2010 MOS exams. For more information in purchasing vouchers, locating a testing center and exam preparation go to
www.certiport.com. Non-LIT students may purchase vouchers online and pay a proctor fee to take the test at LIT. LIT students purchase vouchers at the LIT Testing Center.
