The Joint Commission on National Dental Examinations, an agency of the American Dental Association, is responsible for conducting the National Board Dental and Dental Hygiene Examination programs. The National Board Dental Hygiene Examinations are designed to assist state boards of dentistry in evaluating the competence of candidates for dental and dental hygiene licensure. These examinations typically fulfill the written examination requirement for U.S. licensing jurisdictions.

Graduates from Lamar Institute of Technology Dental Hygiene program must successfully pass the National Board Dental Hygiene Exam and a regional or state clinical exam in order to apply for a license to practice.

Lamar Institute of Technology dental hygiene students must take the National Board Dental Hygiene Exam at an approved testing site.  The written exams are conducted at locations across the United States and Canada on specific annual testing dates. Examination dates are available from the Joint commission’s office and are published in information provided to candidates.

Exam information for Lamar Institute of Technology dental hygiene students is provided by the program director and faculty. Students not enrolled in LIT’s dental hygiene program can contact the American Dental Association for exam information.
