Prior to enrolling in any Emergency Medical Service Program course, each student must take the WorkKeys® Reading for Information Exam. The exam is a 55 minute computerized exam. Scores are available immediately. See the EMS program director for more information and score requirements.

For additional information or to register for an exam call the LIT Testing Center at 409-839-2027 or 409-880-8687 or come by Building T-1, Room 106 to set up an appointment. Payment must be made before the exam is administered.

Testing Procedure

  • Go to the Cashier windows in the Beeson Building on the Lamar Institute of Technology campus
  • Fill out the neon pink deposit slip and pay the cashier $11.
  • Take the payment receipt and pink form to the LIT Testing Center in T-1, Room 106
  • Present valid ID with photo and signature (driver’s license or school ID accepted)
