Lamar Institute of Technology provides a full service testing center for LIT students and the community at the LIT Testing Center. Assessments are offered in a comfortable, secure testing environment. Exams range from student placement exams, LIT program exams, national licensures/certificates and state certifications to testing for area business and industry.

On the right side of the page is a list of testing organizations that partner with Lamar Institute of Technology. Silsbee Hours of Operation: By appointment only. Payment must be credit or debit card only. The Silsbee location only tests for TSI,  WorkKeys and DSST.

TSI Registration Procedures
  • Obtain a Testing Form (neon pink) at the Cashier’s Office located in the Cecil Beeson Building, complete required information and pay at the Cashier’s Office.
  • Proceed to Testing Center Center (T1-Room 106) (Technology Center Room 112 Inside the Learning Lab) through July 7, 2017 and TC Learning Lab beginning July 22, 2017 with receipt and Testing Form to schedule exam or take exam .

Appointments are preferred; however walk-ins are accepted (except dates noted below) if there are available computers, sufficient time to complete the exam and examinees have completed the Pre-Assessment Activity (PAA) prior to test time. The PAA is located at www.lit.edu under the Testing Center page. The PAA also provides links to study material. It is advisable that all examinees review the material well in advance of the exam. The TSI Assessment is a non-timed test and may take four hours or longer. Students should meet with an advisor prior to testing to ensure which sections, if any, they will need to take. Testing staff will not advise. Exemptions are found online at www.lit.edu under the Testing Center page.

Students who No Show for an exam or do not call to reschedule an exam will be required to pay for the exam again. We will gladly refund fees for cancellations with receipt and within 30 days of the scheduled exam date or payment transaction.

Refunds

LIT will not refund any test fees for completed examinations or assessments. Students who ‘No Show’ or do not appear for a scheduled examination will not receive a refund. Students that do not call the Testing Center within 24 hours before a scheduled examination will not receive a refund. LIT will refund test fees for cancelled exams or assessments if the candidate presents a receipt within thirty (30) days of the exam date or payment transaction.

Testing Procedures

  • DO NOT BE LATE There may be a person testing after you.
  • You must present a current ID with your signature and photo(school ID or valid/current driver’s license) NO EXCEPTIONS!
  • Sign in. All test materials are provided (calculators, pencils, scratch paper, etc).
  • Receive scores immediately upon completion of exams.
  • NO REFUNDS FOR COMPLETED ASSESSMENTS!

Accommodated Testing

Needs for special accommodations must be identified and documented in the Special Populations Office, located in Student Services in the Cecil Beeson Building, Room 116B or by calling (409) 880-1737. Once appropriate documentation of disability is reviewed, recommendations will be arranged for testing and the classroom environment. Please alert Testing Center staff of needs well in advance of test date, so that arrangements may be made with the office of Special Populations.
