Health Information Technology - Associate of Applied Science
Students are accepted into the program in the fall and spring of each year.  The number of students is limited to space available in clinical agencies.  Admission to the program is based on academic success and past medical experiences.

Applicants must complete all the requirements of the Texas Success Initiative (THEA or equivalent) and it is strongly recommended, students complete Anatomy and Physiology (BIOL 2301/2101 and BIOL 2302/2102) with a grade of “C” or better, prior to admission to the program.

Those students who have not completed the requirements of TSI or the Anatomy and Physiology courses may be limited in the number of classes that can be completed until they have done so. Students are required to obtain a criminal background screening and must meet acceptable established criteria.

HITT 2266 - Practicum I requires attendance at selected health care facilities or participation in an online group project; in addition, to online clinical assignments. HITT 2167 - Practicum II course is offered fully online.

Applications for admission are available in the Health Information Program office. Applications are due April 15 or October 15 of each year.
