Lyons honored by SNCA for service

BEAUMONT – The Sabine Neches Chiefs’ Association recognized Wilburn F. “Will” Lyons with its Community Service Award on Dec. 2.

The award honors Lyons for his unselfish service to the community and the SNCA.

In his 44-year career, Lyons served with the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the United States Marine Corps, the United States intelligence community, City of Beaumont Fire Department, and City of Beaumont Emergency Medical Services.

He also served in the United States Marine Corps Reserve, the United States Air Force Reserve, Texas Air National Guard and the Texas Army National Guard.

Lyons served as chair for the Department of Public Service and Safety for Lamar Institute of Technology for six years, and was coordinator for the Regional Fire Academy and the Fire Protection Technology program before that. He recently retired from LIT.
