BEAUMONT – Debuting this fall, the STEP Project will support a select group of students in the Process Operating and Instrumentation programs.
STEP (Students Taking Education Personally) is a pilot program that is part of a quality enhancement plan designed to enhance the student learning environment.
Thirty Process Operating and/or Instrumentation students will be chosen to participate in the inaugural class.
The Process Operating and Instrumentation programs were chosen because they are two of the programs with the largest enrollment on campus.
Those students selected will receive priority advising and registration, project advisors, designated campus computers, financial aid guidance, tours of area industry, discipline-specific guest speakers and access to project equipment.
Students are selected according to the following criteria: first time in college, first generation in college, underserved/underrepresented and TSI remediation needed in at least one area.
A new group of 30 students will be selected every fall, and the students will be able to take advantage of the STEP Project’s benefits until they earn their degrees.
