Job Placement Cooperative Education

The Placement/Cooperative Education Office, located in the Beeson Building, is a centralized operation responsible for assisting Institute students and graduates with placement in employment. The office strives to maintain current information on job availability, high employment areas, and employer needs. Materials are provided that pertain to job search techniques, interview skills, and resume writing. These services are offered at no cost to the student or graduate.

Lamar Institute of Technology’s Cooperative Education Program provides students with structured periods of work related to their major, which will facilitate their educational and career goals and enhance the career development process of students by providing meaningful experiences for them to explore and participate in the world of work.

The Placement/Cooperative Education Office helps students in Computer Drafting Technology, Computer Networking and Troubleshooting Technology, Advanced Engine Technology, Industrial Maintenance Technology, Instrumentation, Machining, Process Operating Technology, Welding, Air Conditioning and Occupational Safety and Health locate cooperative education positions in business and industry. This allows students to gain employment experience and class credit and, in some instances, income. Specific requirements are listed in the course description section of each program. Strict application deadline dates are as follows:

Spring . . . . . . . . . . . . . . First Monday in October
Summer. . . . . . . . . . . . . First Monday in March
Fall . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . First Monday in June
