Orientation for Pharmacy Tech, Clinical Medical Assistant programs scheduled for February 16

BEAUMONT – The Lamar Institute of Technology Workforce Training Department will hold a mandatory orientation on Feb. 16 from 6-8 p.m. at the Multi-Purpose Center for their Pharmacy Technician/Clinical Medical Assistant programs.

The Multi-Purpose Center is located at 802 E. Lavaca.

Pharmacy technicians help pharmacists package or mix prescriptions, maintain client records, assist in inventory control and coordinate billing. This career is in high-demand because of the growth of the elder population.

Clinical medical assistants help doctors carry out procedures, care for patients, perform basic lab tests and administer medications.

Classes in each program will be in the evening hours to accommodate those who may work full-time during the day. The programs start in March. Funding for the programs may be available through Workforce Solutions Centers.
