BEAUMONT – The Lamar Institute of Technology Fire Protection program will host a presentation on the NFPA 101 Life Safety Code from 9 to 11:30 a.m. on Nov. 18 in the Beeson Auditorium on the campus of LIT.
Chief Randy Safer, Southern Regional Manager of the National Fire Protection Association will present the program. Safer previously served as fire chief of the Galatin, Tenn., Fire Department. He is a native of the Beaumont area, and served as firefighter, engineer and captain with Beaumont Fire/Rescue Services.
Safer will speak on the history of notable fires which resulted in massive loss of life and led to the development of the Life Safety Code.
